July bug week 2025
Kornelija Žalpyté (aka k0.za) created a wonderful prompt list called ‘July bug week’ which consisted of seven prompts to inspire creativity about bugs! I got super inspired and created a rubber stamp bug using various pieces from various rubber stamp sets I’ve collected, and I had a great time!
I also wrote a haiku for each picture, because each of the prompts fit perfectly in the five syllable rhythm. As you’ll see, I used each prompt as the final line of the haiku.
the gentle tapping
minuscule hands play on glass
a bug in a jug
I struggle within
the soft hand-woven forest
a bug on a rug
“you’re covered in slime!”
and dripping, here I remain
a bug with a slug
my dear bumblebee
put your sting away, you’re safe
a bug gives a hug
striking famous pose
fireflies of many colours
a bug in a club
up high in the air
a big shift in perspective
a bug flies above
I wish you good health
sorry for what humans did
a bug meets a pug
